More than 5,000 F-4 Phantom II fighter jets served the military beginning in 1961. With a top speed of more than twice the speed of sound, the F4 held more than 16 speed records. It saw combat in both Vietnam and Desert Storm and is the only aircraft ever used by both the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds.
